Thigh Lift
Excess skin and fatty tissue in the thighs can be hard to correct with diet and exercise. If you are looking for youthful and proportionate thigh contours, you should consider thigh lift cosmetic surgery. Sometimes a thigh liposuction may be combined with a thigh lift to create exceptional outcomes for both inner and outer thighs.
During your initial consultation, you should discuss your best options with the surgeon so that they can recommend a customized thigh lift surgery plan for you. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides thigh lift surgery to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.
Who Should Choose a Thigh Lift?
If you are bothered by one or more of the following conditions, you could be a candidate for a thigh lift plastic surgery:
- You have large or heavy thighs that make you feel self-conscious
- Aging, pregnancy or weight loss has caused significantly sagging skin in the thighs
- Your lower body contour looks disproportionate because of skin laxity or excess fat deposits in the outer or inner thighs
- You have developed stubborn cellulite appearance in the thighs
Types of Thigh Lift Surgery
Inner (Medial) Thigh Lift
In a medial thigh lift plastic surgery, your surgeon will create an incision in the groin area. They will remove the loose skin and excess fat through the incision to restore a refined inner thigh contour. The area from the groin to the knee as well as the outer thigh area can also be re-contoured as part of this surgery. A liposuction may be additionally performed if you have substantial fat pockets in the outer thighs.
Outer (Lateral) Thigh Lift
This is a relatively more invasive cosmetic surgery, which involves reshaping of the outer thighs as well as the buttock area. The amount of excess tissue removed in a lateral thigh lift may be significant, which can make your thigh skin less elastic. For extended benefits for years to come, you should maintain a stable and moderate body weight. Scarring in a lateral thigh lift may be relatively higher.
Thigh Lift Post-Op Recovery
You will be able to notice your new thigh contours as soon as the initial bruising and swelling improves after your surgery. A thigh lift surgery may involve a downtime of about 8 to 10 days, after which you can return to your workplace or resume your normal routine.
But it is important to avoid vigorous activities for at least a month to allow for proper healing. Your surgeon may ask you to wear a compression garment for several weeks after the thigh lift so that the newly created contours get support.
Post-Surgery Scarring
An inner thigh lift surgery will typically result in less visible scarring because the incision will be placed in the groin area. However, if large skin tissue removal is involved, a vertical scar along inner thigh line may have to be placed. An outer thigh lift will have more significant incisions going from the groin to the hips and even to the buttock fold in some cases.
A skilled plastic surgeon can hide the incisions in areas where scarring will be concealed by your clothes. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles, and nearby areas for thigh lift surgery.
