Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Motykie joins The Doctors to discuss adding bleach to an at-home facial: Is it an anti-aging secret or a toxic trend? Watch Video Now

    The Doctors TV show Motykie

Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Gary Motykie, says that face is probably the most important part of an individual’s aesthetic appearance. An attractive face contributes substantially to an attractive overall personality and self-confidence. Therefore, extra care must be taken to ensure that the facial skin remains preserved naturally and does not face any external damage as far as possible.

One of the risks that many people take about their face is when they use bleach facials at home without any professional guidance or supervision. Bleach, as the name suggests, is a very strong chemical agent that is typically designed to make the clothes cleaner, brighter, and whiter. However, when the same bleaching process is used on the face, it requires thorough professional care to ensure nothing goes wrong.

    Risks of At-home Bleach Facials

Most at-home bleach facial packages do provide instructions for application, but it may not always be possible for an individual to follow those instructions with perfect care. Such treatments are typically used when a person is busy or in a hurry to go for a social event. The chances of making an error in the usage or application process become higher under such circumstances.

If the concentration of the bleach is slightly higher than what is recommended, it can cause damage to the facial skin. It may be possible to repair such damage later on, but it makes little sense to expose facial skin to such risks in the first place. In any case, a repair and restoration process can only work up to a certain degree, but it cannot substitute the natural, original condition of the skin.

Custom Facials from Motykie Med Spa

Before recommending the appropriate facial treatment, the experts at Motykie med spa will perform a thorough skincare analysis. Keeping in view the patient’s personal aesthetic goals and skin condition, a custom, step-by-step skincare plan will be developed. The following facial treatments may be recommended depending on a patient’s needs:

Motykie Med Spa Signature Custom Facial (60 minutes)

This treatment is designed to help prevent skin damage due to toxins, pollutants and stress, and maintain and improve the complexion. It can help reveal the best skin possible with deep exfoliation, steam cleansing, extraction, custom mask and relaxation massage.

    Gentleman’s Facial (60 minutes)

This customized skincare facial treatment for men includes giving special attention to extraction of beard in-grown hairs and calming inflammation that may be associated with it.

Fire & Ice Facial (60 minutes)

This facial treatment is designed to achieve instant effects for the skin, including tightening, brightening and smoothing. Skin resurfacing is performed with this intensive clinical treatment. The results are reduction in fine lines and wrinkle, smoother and softer skin, and cellular renewal.

    Dermaplaning Treatment (60 minutes)

This innovative treatment involves safely scraping away the outer dead cells in the skin and ‘peach fuzz’ to reveal clear, smooth and undamaged skin. This treatment can help improve the appearance of acne scarred skin and smooth out minor facial wrinkles.

HydraFacial is another non-invasive facial spa therapy provided at Dr. Motykie’s medical spa that is designed to restore youthful, healthy skin.

facelift 2A good rhinoplasty can be quite difficult for you to manage because of its high cost. However, it is always sensible to opt for the best quality available. While a good surgeon may cost you a little more, it is not worth risking your appearances and safety for the sake of small discounts. Instead, you can work your way around the issue by financing your plastic surgery differently.

It could take quite a while before you manage to save up. Instead, you could opt for medical loans. Here are some ways by which you can finance your surgery without having to create a huge hole in your pocket. Before you decide how to pay though, you should ensure that you are getting rhinoplasty done from accredited and certified surgeons.

    Credit systems

You can pay for surgery using a normal credit card. You will have to repay the amount in installments, which are manageable of course. However, you must watch out for the interest rate credit card companies charge you. It is not worth paying a lump sum just in interest for cosmetic surgery.

There are special credit systems developed by certain doctors and hospitals. Find out if the place you plan to get the procedure done from has any of these options. Before making a credit card of a certain kind specifically for the procedure, check with your surgeon and find out if they accept the type of card or the particular card company.

    Bank loans

If the need for surgery is purely medical, as in the case of injury, then you can get your insurance company to pay for the surgery for you. However, if it is only for aesthetic enhancement, these companies will not be of any help. You could approach a bank though. Banks pay out medical loans for various purposes, including plastic surgery.

    Unsecured credit loans

This is not a great option unless you have a low credit score. If this is the case and you find it difficult to get your procedure financed through other sources, you could consider this as an option. Since the lender will capitalize on the fact that you don’t have many choices, he/she will make up for it by providing you with the funding with due speed and confidentiality, ensuring that you get the experience you deserve. Quite often, unsecured credit loans of this sort are given by private lenders who belong to the clinic or hospital.

Once you have decided on your preferred payment method, you will have to take care to choose a good facility and a good cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Gary Motykie, operating in areas of Beverly Hills, West Hollywood & Los Angeles, suggests that you ask for a doctor’s credentials and success or satisfaction rates before you sign up or make your payment. Make up your mind on what exactly you want and communicate with your plastic surgeon as best as you can. You will definitely have a great experience after such precautionary measures.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job Surgery) In layman terms, rhinoplasty is the surgical procedure used to improve the look of  a person’s nose. This procedure is commonly referred to as a nose job, or even nasal reshaping. The popularity of the surgery comes from the fact that the nose is a part of the face, one of the most striking features of a person. Improving the contours of the nose helps people become more presentable. How people define themselves is not completely independent of how they look.

Cosmetic surgery of the nose does not necessarily have to be for the purpose of enhancing looks. It may be to regain the original appearance of the nose post-injury. A skilled plastic surgeon can touch up even major injuries and help people recover their original looks. Before and after photos will convince you of the quality of the job that can be done by a skilled rhinoplasty surgeon – the likes of Dr. Gary Motykie, who has patients spread over the areas of Beverly Hills,West Hollywood & Los Angeles.

    Paying for surgery

Surgical procedures that require such high levels of specialization tend to be quite expensive. However, there are ways to pay for surgery so that your wallet is not taxed too much. For example, if you have to undergo rhinoplasty due to an injury of some kind, insurance companies will pay a fair portion of the cost, if not the entire amount.

On the other hand, if you wish to undergo surgery to enhance how your nose looks, you could apply for a medical plan, often given by the clinic or hospital you plan to undergo the process in. Plastic surgery can be financed even by way of taking a medical loan. This way, you can pay the amount in installments you are more comfortable with, rather than having to wait until you can save up a larger chunk.

    Rhinoplasty over the years

The surgical study of the nose has become a very specialized subject through decades. Along with the greater knowledge we now have on the subject, the level of sophistication and mechanization in the process has also increased substantially. Additionally, the outcome has also been perfected to a great extent, making it even more sought after than it already was. The only difference is, now people want surgery to enhanceappearances more than for curtailing damage and replacing injured portions.

    Viewing results pre-surgery

Most people become more trusting of the results of rhinoplasty (or any cosmetic surgery) only after they see pictures as proof, or get testimonials from other people. You could even ask your surgeon to take you through the entire process via 3-D software so that you are prepared for the procedure you are going to undergo.

It is important to communicate properly with your doctor so that they know exactly what you want. Getting a revision is simply going to cost you extra. Ensure that you ask about similar cases to yours so that you have a general idea about what you are going to look like once you are done with the surgery.

Breast Augmentation Cost – Beverly Hills | Los Angeles

Breast Augmentation Cost - Beverly Hills | Los AngelesBreast augmentation has emerged as one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the last few years. Improved qualities in breast implants and advanced surgical techniques have made the procedure safer and more effective. Dr. Gary Motykie is an eminent plastic surgeon providing various breast surgery procedures to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby communities.

The cost of breast augmentation may differ from one practice to another based on several factors. Dr. Motykie educates his patients about all aspects of breast augmentation cosmetic surgery, including the costs involved. During the initial consultation he ensures that the patient is able to make an informed choice about the treatment.

    Cost Components

A number of cost components are involved in the breast augmentation procedure. In any case, the cost of treatment may vary from one place to another because of the average cost of living in each area may be different. For instance, the cost of breast augmentation in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, or nearby areas is likely to differ from the average cost of the same procedure in Austin, TX.

    Surgeon’s Fee

The fee charged by a cosmetic surgeon may depend on his or her qualifications, experience and reputation in performing breast surgery procedures. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), patients should choose the appropriate surgeon for the procedure, and consider the surgeon’s charges only as a secondary factor.

    Operating Room and Anesthesia Costs

These two cost components are also significant in a breast augmentation plastic surgery procedure. A state of the art operating facility with advanced surgical equipment and experienced support staff may charge a little more than an average operating room. Breast augmentation is usually performed under general anesthesia. The experience of the anesthesiologist may have an impact on the fee charged.

    Other Expenses

Costs of medical tests, mammograms, prescription medications, surgical garments and post-op visits to the cosmetic surgeon should also be accounted for while preparing an estimate of the total costs of procedure.

    Cost of Breast Implants

The plastic surgeon will usually provide the options of both saline and silicone implants, which may cost differently. Implants are available in sizes ranging from 120cc to 960cc, and in round and tear-drop shapes. These differences may influence the cost of implants to some extent. The latest highly cohesive silicone implants may cost significantly more than conventional saline breast implants.

    Insurance and Financing

Breast augmentation may be fully or partially covered under a patient’s health plan if the procedure is performed to restore breasts following a mastectomy or a breast injury. In other cases, patients may explore financing options through various medical care finance companies.

Breast Augmentation – Los Angeles | Beverly Hills

Breast Augmentation - Los Angeles | Beverly HillsAugmentation mammaplasty, commonly known as breast augmentation surgery, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to enhance the size, volume and fullness of breasts. Dr. Gary Motykie is a board certified plastic surgeon providing this surgery to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding areas.

    Suitable Candidates

Not every patient who desires to have breast augmentation cosmetic surgery may be a suitable candidate for the procedure. Dr. Motykie will assess the patient’s general health, previous surgeries, breast anatomy and her unique aesthetic goals before recommending this procedure. In most cases, the cosmetic surgeon may recommend this procedure for patients who experience one or more of the following conditions:

    • Patient has a naturally small size of breasts.
    • Patient is keen to increase breast size, even when the natural breast size is normal.
    • Patient has lost breast volume following pregnancy, breast feeding or major weight loss.
    • One breast is smaller than the other.
    • Breast tissue is lost during mastectomy or following a traumatic injury.

Dr. Motykie makes sure that his patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles and nearby communities are properly educated about all aspects of the procedure. It is important that the patient has clear goals, positive outlook and realistic expectations, which will help achieve the best outcome in the end.

    Breast Implants

Breast augmentation plastic surgery is a fairly customizable procedure because of multiple options available for breast implants. Implants are saline and silicone gel based, and both options are approved by the FDA. Patients can also choose among various sizes, shapes, and textures available for breast implants. The standard size range of implants is between 120cc and 960cc, and the shapes can be round or tear-drop. The plastic surgeon can recommend the most appropriate options in consultation with the patient.

    Surgical Procedure

Breast augmentation surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation. The cosmetic surgeon will begin the procedure by making an incision in a pre-determined location to keep the scars as discreet as possible. The incision may be made around the areola, below the breast curve, in the underarm, or around the navel. The implant can be placed between the breast tissue and chest muscle or under the chest muscle. In some cases, the breast augmentation procedure may be performed in combination with breast lift cosmetic surgery.

    Recovery and Results

Breast augmentation is usually performed as an outpatient surgery, and the patient should have someone to drive her back home and stay over for the night. Most patients will experience mild pain and discomfort in the first few days, which can be managed with pain relieving medications.

Patients can go back to work within 10 to 14 days, and resume their regular daily activities. However, vigorous activities should be avoided for at least one month. Results of the procedure will become fully visible as the swelling and bruising resolves. The results are usually long lasting, providing the plastic surgery has been performed by an experienced and qualified surgeon.

    What is Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the size and volume of breasts in order to make them better proportioned to the rest of the body. The procedure may be performed either for cosmetic or medical reasons, or a combination of both. Women with oversized breasts are prone to developing back and neck pain, unhealthy body posture and rashes and irritation in the breast fold. Restriction on certain physical movements, exercises, and sports activities may occur with this condition.

An experienced plastic surgeon will first evaluate the patient’s breast anatomy, general health condition and medical and aesthetic goals before recommending breast reduction surgery. The procedure not only achieves reduction in breast size and weight, but also provides a certain amount of lift to make the breasts appear more youthful. Reduction in the size of areolas is also performed with most breast reduction surgeries. The procedure involves removal of excess breast tissue, fat, and skin to achieve smaller and perkier shaped breasts.

    Procedure

During the pre-op consultation, the cosmetic surgeon will assess the breast mound and nipple position, shape of the chest wall, look for any anomalies in breast symmetry, and evaluate the overall breast size, shape, and body posture. This detailed evaluation will help the surgeon prepare a customized treatment plan in order to achieve right-sized breasts that appear more youthful, symmetrical, and well-proportioned with the rest of the body. Dr. Motykie performs this plastic surgery procedure for patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas at a fully accredited surgical facility.

The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, and Dr. Motykie associates with board certified anesthesiologists for this purpose. Incisions are made in pre-determined areas in a discreet manner, and excess breast fat, tissue and skin removed. The radius of the areolas is reduced, and breasts are raised to a higher position on the breast mound. After the procedure, the incisions are closed with small surgical tapes.

    Recovery and Results

During the initial days following the surgery, the results of breast reduction are likely to be obscured by bruising and swelling. Pain and soreness in the breasts will be experienced by most patients for the initial period, which can be managed with pain relieving medication as prescribed by the surgeon.

Full and final outcome of breast reduction is usually visible several months after the procedure when the breasts have become naturally softer and supple. Scarring will be more visible in the initial days, but scars usually begin to fade away as the healing is completed. Within six months the scars are typically reduced to thin, white lines.

Key Questions to Ask on Breast Augmentation Costs

Breast augmentation is one of the more popular plastic surgery procedures in the United States today. The cosmetic surgeon may recommend this procedure to address the aesthetic goals of a patient who needs breast enlargement, or it may be performed as a reconstructive procedure following a mastectomy. Patients ought to consider all aspects of the breast enhancement surgery, including the cost aspect, before they finally decide to go ahead with the procedure.

An experienced plastic surgeon will usually explain all the pros and cons of breast surgery, and also indicate the estimated costs of various treatment options. Dr. Motykie encourages his patients in and around Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles to ask questions and clarify all their points related to a procedure as well as the associated costs. This enables a patient to make an informed decision and achieve the best possible outcome.

Particularly with regard to breast augmentation, patients need to consider questions such as whether to choose saline or silicone gel based implants, whether to place the implants under or over the breast muscle, and what type of incisions may be appropriate to suit the patient’s goals. At the same time, patients also need to address all the essential queries related to the cost of breast implant surgery, such as:

    •  What will be cost of breast augmentation cosmetic surgery?
    •  Does this cost estimate cover the cost of breast implants, surgical garments, post-op visits, and medical tests, if any?
    •  Are the operating room costs included in the estimate?
    •  Is the cost of anesthesia included in the estimate?
    •  Does the practice require entire amount to be paid upfront in advance?
    •   Are there any financing options available for breast augmentation procedure?

    Additional Costs

Patients should be aware of any potential additional costs of breast implant plastic surgery while preparing their cost estimates. Sometimes the cosmetic surgeon may require the patient to buy special garments or surgical bra prior to the procedure. Another cost to consider is the cost of blood tests and any other medical tests, depending on the patient’s condition. Patients who have not had a mammogram in the last one year may be required to attain one.

     Overall Cost of Surgery

Patients should also consider financing options well in advance so that they can ensure convenient payments for the procedure. Breast augmentation is usually a cosmetic procedure, and will not be covered under the patient’s health insurance plan in most cases.

    Average Cost of a Procedure

The average cost of a cosmetic surgery procedure in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Los Angeles is likely to differ from the cost of the same procedure in Dallas or Atlanta. The cost of living index in different regions will influence the average cost of services, including plastic surgery services. The quality of a surgical facility and the skills and experience of the operating surgeon will also impact the overall costs of a procedure.

What a terrific segment! This week on the Marie Osmond Show “Dr. G” shined some light with sound advice on learning how to listen to our bodies to eat healthier, tips on juicing to lose fat everywhere and news about the newest non-invasive treatment to lose those few extra inches- permanently.

After introducing Dr. M as an elite expert in the field of plastic surgery, and world renowned as a highly regarded author of various articles on the newest techniques in plastic surgery, the always lovely Marie Osmond started off the show saying that her friends daughter wanted to do some plastic surgery and went to see Dr. Motykie. A while later when Marie called to see how it went, the friends daughter said that Dr. Motykie told her she had to take better care of herself before he would do anything surgical! Meaning her health and nutrition wasn’t up to par. This is an important credo for Dr. Motykie: Health before beauty.

    How to lose weight

According to Dr. M, counting calories is absolutely wrong- he doesn’t agree with it. Losing weight and staying healthy should be about nutrition and nutritional content. Unfortunately, the “Standard American Diet” is full of packaged foods and most packaged foods have virtually no nutritional value. As Dr. M pointed out, they are pretty packages housing calories.  If this is all you eat, then you are on the fast track to being overfed and under-nourished. The acronym for the Standard American Diet is SAD. And the standard American diet -it is actually Sad! It’s junk food and full of calories and not nutrition.

If you were to list the factors that increase the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, intestinal disorders – just about any illness – the standard American diet has them all:

    • High in animal fats
    • High in unhealthy fats: saturated, hydrogenated
    • Low in fiber
    • High in processed foods
    • Low in complex carbohydrates
    • Low in plant-based foods

The standard American diet is high in many things, most of which your body doesn’t really need.  It is full of hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup, phytic acid, acrylamide, sodium nitrate, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lacking in basic essentials such as vitamins, minerals.

    Got Back Fat? Eat better!

“Liposuction is not for weight loss, it’s for targeting trouble areas”… says Dr. Motykie. The standard American diet contains TOXINS & FAT – and all kinds of things you DON’T need in your body… and guess what? It all goes to your fat cells. “Fat cells are the garbage cans of our body,”  Dr. Motykie says. They store all the toxins and fat from our poor diet. We’re walking around toxic, fat and bloated.  If you have liposuction but go back to a poor diet, aren’t you just trading fat in one area for another? What you really want is to lose fat everywhere!

    So what’s the answer? JUICING!

Once you start juicing and detoxing, your body starts to say ‘hey I’m healthy I don’t need all this stuff in me’ and OFF COMES THE FAT… also the nutrients that are in those vegetables and antioxidants are actually helping escort the toxins OUT.

What Dr. M likes to say about juicing is that “It’s like a spa treatment for your body –on the inside”. When you’re juicing you’re actually cleaning out the inside of your body- that’s going to dump those toxins (FAT!) and bring nutrients into your body. You’re going to lose weight!

Okay, so how long does it take to get the weight off? “Once you start juicing” Dr. Motykie says, “it’s going to happen quick- your body’s going to react very quickly, it’s used to this stuff.”

On a table spread with colorful organic vegetables like carrots, beets and spinach – Dr. Motykie whips up a detox cocktail for Marie that he calls “The Lean Green Machine” which is simply and deliciously celery and cucumbers in the juicer! It’s refreshing and tasty and takes less than a minute to make.

Final words on juicing are “Don’t eat with your mind, eat with your body. Your body is going to tell you what’s best for you if you listen”. I think we all know which voice he’s referring to. (Hint. Not the one that say ice cream right before bed is good for ya)

    “I Don’t LOVE My “love handles”…

What can you do if you can’t lose those last few inches or have stubborn spots – even after juicing…

The answer: A non- invasive, non-liposuction procedure called Cool-Sculpting. It actually cools or freezes-the fat, so that it comes right off after freezing! It doesn’t hurt. There are no harmful effects. It takes about an hour, costs only about $800 dollars and get this- it’s PERMANENT.

Cryolipolysis, now popularly known as “Cool-Sculpting”, originated at The Wellman Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. Research proved that Popsicle panniculitis, a dermatologic condition, showed that exposure to low temperatures can selectively damage subcutaneous fat while leaving skin intact. The principle of Cool-Sculpting relies on controlled cooling for non-invasive local reduction of fat deposits to reshape body contours. The exposure to cooling is set so that it causes cell death of subcutaneous fat tissue without apparent damage to the overlying skin.

It really very simple the way Dr. Motykie explains it: Fat cells are more sensitive to freezing than the skin and the fat cells die and the body absorbs the fat. “If you ask”, me says Dr. Motykie, “that’s pretty COOL”. He’s so cute.

The most common areas to do Dr. Motykie says are the flanks or “love handles”, they’re just going to shrink slowly over the next couple of months effortlessly… remember to maintain your normal diet and exercise of course.

The Most Lovable Thing About Dr. M?

Well there are many things, but as Marie points out at the end of the segment, “Dr. G always gives the alternative- to do it smart, and to be healthy”.

Dr. Motykie’s response: “Live smarter not harder right?”

    So, in summary…

    1.  Go for lots of color on your plate!!! Start juicing.

    2.  Leave “SAD” behind and be Happy! Build a foundation of healthy eating for a beautiful future.

    3. Freeze the fat!  When you’ve done everything else, take those last few pounds off with Cool-Sculpting.

    4. Keep those muffin tops where they belong- on muffins… But don’t eat them because they are usually high in fat and low in nutrient content!
