Brow lift plastic surgery may be undertaken using the traditional or the endoscopic technique.
Recovery can differ marginally in each case, and the surgeon will discuss the recovery aspect at the time of the pre-operative consultation. The main objective of the surgeon will be to enable the patient to make a judicious decision.
To enjoy a safe and predictable recovery, the patient should follow the surgeon’s guidelines in a diligent manner. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides brow lift to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.
Temporary Side Effects
After brow lift surgery, the patient will likely experience a few mild side effects in the initial recovery stage. These side-effects will be much less pronounced if the surgeon uses innovative techniques such as an endoscopic brow lift. These side-effects may include:
- Inflammation
- Tingling
- Bruising
- Pain or general discomfort
- Itching
- Numbness
- Tiredness
Initial Recovery Phase
The patient should use cold compression around the eyes in the initial two days following brow lift cosmetic surgery. This will help reduce inflammation. The surgeon may instruct the patient to sleep with the head in a raised position for at least one week.
While pain is not a major concern, the patient may experience some firmness in the brow and forehead areas. The surgeon may prescribe pain medications for the initial few days.
The most inflammation will occur in around two to three days and will start subsiding after that. The bruising will typically occur minimally in the brow, but slightly more in the adjacent areas. The bruising typically resolves on its own in around two to three weeks.
The patient may be allowed to bathe and shower in one or two days following the surgery. But they will need to avoid hot water tubs, steam baths, and hair dryers for a few weeks. The patient may be unable to feel the hot temperature due to numbness in the treated sites. Therefore, it is safer to avoid hot water.
The surgeon may remove the stitches in around seven to ten days following a brow lift. The patient is encouraged to undertake gentle walks and light activities at home in the initial week to enhance blood supply in the incision areas. However, they should avoid performing vigorous exercises and heavy lifting for around three weeks.
Recovery Guidelines
The common recovery guidelines for brow lift plastic surgery are:
- Wear bandages for one to two days following the surgery
- Wait until the bandages are taken off to wash hair and shower
- Keep the head raised with pillows for a few days after the procedure
- Apply ice packs to manage inflammation
- Apply any prescribed ointment to the incision sites to help minimize scarring
Outcomes
After the brow lift cosmetic surgery, it may take a few weeks for the inflammation to resolve. After this, significant improvement in the forehead and brow will be obvious with a wrinkle-free, smooth appearance. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas for brow lift.
